Mehbooba Mufti put under house arrest

Srinagar, Nov 1 (IANS): Former chief minister and president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was put under house arrest on Monday in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar district.

Police said Mehbooba Mufti was put under house arrest on Monday morning inside her Fairview residence situated on the high security Gupkar Road.

Police cross parked a mobile bunker at the entrance to Mufti's residence to prevent exit and entry from the premises.

"The step was taken as a security precaution," police said.

The PDP has a scheduled meeting of its core group at Mufti's residence on Monday.

    What commentators fail to read is that there is a security threat to her. If people recall, she ran a coalition with BJP for 3 years! Now threats to Kashmiris and Hindus there needs to be looked very seriously, else blame will again be in Centre!

    So, with your own blind logic ultimately it is BJP the biggest threat in Kashmir. FYI, Mufti Mehbooba has never requested for any security and no threat to her life from Kashmiris except from BJP itself.

    If she is put under house arrest for security reasons that means even after 3 years of abrogation of article 370 in Kashmir there is security problem and still the state is unsafe for ordinary people. In that case elections and return of democracy in Kashmiris a distant dream. It was much better situation before the abrogation of article. BJP is turning Kashmir The Heaven on Earth into Hell on Earth.
