Mangaluru, Nov 1: On November 1, Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated in St Aloysius ITI at Samipya.
The president for the programme was Fr John Dsouza SJ, director St Aloysius ITI. Roshan D'Souza, principal, Alwyn Menezes, vice principal, Noel Lobo, training officer and Alwyn Sequeira, convener of the programme were present.
The prayer service was led by Wilson, JTO. Alwyn Sequeira, convener of the programme escorted the president, principal, vice principal and training officer to the dais.
The welcome speech was given by Padmavathi. Later, the students sang a Kannada song ‘Karunada Tayi Sada Chinmayi’.
Later, Fr John D'Souza, president of the programme spoke saying that Karunadu means high land. ‘Karu’ is black and ‘Nadu’ is the most beautiful place in the region. "Chest up and say that I am an Indian. Let thousands of people speak Kannada in their mouths, let only Kannada be in our hearts. We must be blessed to be born in India. Speaking to the students. We must be very lucky to be born in Karnataka,” he said
The vote of thanks was given by Alwyn Menezes, vice principal.
Later everyone who were present for the programme sang the Nadageethe ‘Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate’.
