Davangere: Kannada Rajyostava at St Aloysius Harihar

Davangere, Nov 3: The notable festival of Kannada language, people and terrain which is known as Kannada Rajyostava, was celebrated majestically at Saint Aloysius PU College Harihar on November 1, in the college quadrangle.

The programme started with inter religious prayer and a traditional welcome which added bliss to the event. The event was presided over by Fr Eric Mathais SJ, the superior of the college.

The occasion was chaired by Dr Ananda Rigvedi - a poet, literary critic and playwright, and the assistant administrator of District Hospital (Chigateri) Davanagere.

He invited the students to become active in the process of incorporating and preserving the Kannada language, including the history and literary values. The principal Sunny Gudinho, vice principals Pushpalatha Urs and Mousin Ulla, the convener Abdul Rahman, student representatives Adil Attar and Shreya M were present at the stage.

The inauguration had a grand outcome of lighting the lamps along with the song sung 'Hacchevu Kannadada Deepa'

The celebration of Karnataka’s electrifying festival and greatest admiration, the Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with many cultural programmes, had an emotional skit, songs and many more recreational activities which entertained the crowd with the sound of the trumpets.

Kumari Prathana welcomed the gathering, Kumari Nandita hosted the event and Kumari Flavia proposed the vote of thanks. Thus a day dedicated to Kannada was celebrated with grand event.
