Karnataka Wing of Indian Social Club Presents Gurukiran Nite on Nov 11

Muscat, Nov 7: The Karnataka Wing of the Indian Social Club, Muscat is bringing one of the leading music directors of them Kannada film industry Gurukiran and his troupe here to present a mega musical show as part of Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations. The troupe will be accompanied by famous playback singers from Karnataka, Vijay Prakash (Jai Ho fame singer), Malgudi Shubha and Chaitra.
The programme will be held at Palm Gardens, Muscat Intercontinental Hotel on Thursday November 11. The musical show will comprise foot-tapping Kannada film hits and electrifying dance performances by
the highly popular XLNC Dance troupe from Bengaluru. This mega programme is being organized in association with CGGYAN productions from Bengaluru.
Gurukiran and his troupe have already performed in Dubai, Bahrain, Kuwait and recently in USA. It is the first time such a large scale musical show from the state is being organized in Muscat. It is going to be a spectacular show and will no doubt be a great treat for the ears as well as for the eyes.
Gurukiran - Famed Music Director Known For His Delightful Compositions
Gurukiran is a noted music director of the Kannada film industry in India. He started his career as a music director of the Kannada movie "A", directed and acted by Upendra, composing some fantastic songs. The music won hearts of Kannadigas all over the world. His music for the movie Upendra further consolidated his position in the Kannada movie industry. He has also acted in several movies and also sung several songs. He is popular in Kannada cinema for his foot-tapping musical scores.
His hit P Vasu's directed Apthamitra reinforced the power of Gurukiran in music composition. Jogi released in the year 2005 was a milestone in the career of Gurukiran. The film's album audio sales before the release of the film is an all time record in the Kannada film industry.
He has won several awards, among them the 'Chitra Premigala Prashasthi' and 'Indira Priyadarshani Prashasthi' award for 'Pavithra' and 'Jeevan Chakra '– Kannada TV serials. He also won the Filmfare
Award for Best Music Director three times, for the Kannada films Chitra, Dhum and Apthamithra, as well as the ‘Sri Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Award’ for his excellency in music.
Vijay Prakash - Making Waves in Playback Singing
Vijay Prakash is a playback singer from Mysore who moved to Mumbai in 1996. He has sung in Hindi films such as Blue, Yuvvraaj, Swades, Kaal, Lakshya, Matrubhoomi, Tere Naam, Cheeni Kum and Raavan. He has also performed in Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu movies. He has also hosted the Kannada reality show SaReGaMaPa on Zee Kannada and does fusion shows with Ustad Zakir Hussain.
He is also one of four singers credited for the song, "Jai Ho", which won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song. Specifically, he sang the portion with the words "Jai Ho" that takes an extended high
pitch at numerous junctures of the song. The song also won the 52nd "Grammy Awards" in the category ‘Best Song written for Motion Picture, Television or other Visual Media.’
He is presently one of the Judges in Confident Star Singer 2 (Kannada), airing on Asianet Suvarna.
Malgudi Shubha – Singer Par Excellence
Malgudi Shuba has recorded songs in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. Her first successful album, Chikpak Chikbhum, which was released in Chennai, sold eight lakh copies. She is presently one of the Judges in Star Singer 2 Kannada, airing on Asianet Suvarna.
She went on to record 1,500 songs in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi films and has cut albums in these languages. Very popular in India and abroad for her inimitable performances, Malgudi Shuba has performed in Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai (A.R. Rahman's Show), London and USA.
Chaitra H G – Making a Mark in Singing
Chaitra H G is a Hindustani classical and playback singer, daughter of H S Gopinath (a tabla player).
Chaitra holds a Bachelor of Engineering, specialised in Information Science and Engineering. She leaped back into playback singing in the year 2003-04 for the film Bhagawan and, from then, has been known for
her unique voice and pattern of singing. Her “Huduga Huduga” song from the Kannada language film Amruthadhare won her the state award as the Best Playback Singer in 2005.
She has completed 350 songs as a playback singer in many South Indian languages including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali for many leading music directors including Hamsalekha, Gurukiran, Raghu Dixit Sri, Sadhu Kokila, Rajesh Ramnath, Mano Murthy, R P Pattnaik, Mani Sharma. She is one of the leading playback singers in the Kannada film industry.
