Udupi, Nov 7: After a long Covid-induced gap of one-and-a-half years, Anganawadis in Udupi district will open their shutters to children on Monday November 8, but with strict implementation of Covid protocol.

Anganawadis have been completely sanitized both indoors and outdoors, along with desks, benches, toys and utensils. All the Anganawadi staff and helpers have been fully vaccinated. They have been asked to produce RTPCR test reports also.

The women and child welfare department has already ensured that safety measures and checks of the same have been undertaken.

Arrangements have been made for the children to maintain one meter distance in seating. If the number of students is more than the available space, the children will be made to attend the sessions on alternate days.

Protein food will be delivered to homes of the children. The Anganawadis will be open from 10 am to 12 noon. Based on the situation, food will be provided at the centres later on.

On the first day of reopening, children will be welcomed to the centres with fanfare. The department has instructed the concerned to decorate the Anganwadis with balloons and every child will be welcomed with a flower.

"On the recommendations of the state Covid-19 technical committee, all the Anganawadi centres in the district will start operations from November 8 onwards. Local bodies and gram panchayats have been given instructions to sanitize the Anganawadis in their areas. Instruction have been given to take care of the health of children," said Dr Naveen Bhat, incharge deputy commissioner and CEO of zilla panchayat.
