Bengaluru, Nov 7: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who chaired a meeting on progress in the Bengaluru Mission 2022 at his home office Krishna on Sunday, directed the officials to take steps to ensure better maintenance and speedy movement of traffic in the Central Business District.
Directing the officials to complete the ongoing works on Bengaluru Metro Rail project one year ahead of the target, he asked them make necessary arrangements and preparations to expedite the works.
The Chief Minister wanted the 15.40 kms Suburban Railway Project to be implemented speedily and said the land acquisition by the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) must be expedited to enable the early implementation. This is an ambitious infrastructure project, he said.
He laid special emphasis on development of lakes and tanks in and around the city. As many as 25 lakes are being taken up under the Rs 128 crore lake development and rejuvenation proect and works on the 25 lakes was expected to be completed by January.
While taking up the lake development and rejuvenation work, the Chief Minister wanted the officials to ensure that drainage water does not flow into the lakes and also remove all encroachments. There should be green fencing around the lakes after removal of encroachments, Bommai said.
Chief Secretary P Ravikumar, Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner Vandita Sharma, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Manjunath Prasad and other senior officials attended the meeting.
