Mangaluru: CODP, Sahajeeva Okkoota celebrates festival of lights

Mangaluru, Nov 10: Canara Oraganization for Development and Peace (CODP) and Sahajeevana Okkoota jointly organized a celebration of festival oflLights - Deepavali on November 9, 2021 in CODP hall. The programme was presided over by Fr Vincent D Souza, the director of CODP.

The programme commenced with a prayer and lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Mohammad Guthigar, associate professor HOD Yenapoya University Deralakatte Mangaluru; Fr Vincent D Souza, director of CODP; Pradeep, SBI branch manager KS Roa road; Kasmir D Souza, president of Sahajeevana Okkoota; Bharathi S Chawta, Amtady Grama Panchayat member and Laveena Dhanthi, secretary of Sahajeevana Okkoota were present on the Dais.

Kasmir D Souza welcomed the dignitaries and other participants.

Mohammad Guthigar addressed the gathering by saying peace and harmony is most important towards building a better society. Fr Vincent D Souza in his speech explained the meaning of Deepavali. He said, "Deepavali is the festival of lights, and we should also shine and spread light among others."

Bharathi S Chowta in her speech wished the gathering Happy Deepavali peace, prosperity and goodness of this festival. Jayashree Monteiro, member Sahajeevana Okkoota compered the programme and Rocky Saldanha, vice president of Sahajeevana okkoota proposed the vote of thanks.
