Udupi, Nov 11: 68th Karnataka State Cooperative Federation State level Sahakari Saptaha (Cooperative week) scheduled to be held on November 15, is postponed to January 2022, due to upcoming of Karnataka Legislative Council election, said Dr Rajendra Kumar, chairman of SCDCC bank.
He was speaking at the press meet held on Wednesday, November 10 at Diana hotel Udupi. Kumar said, "Sahakari Saptaha programme is postponed as the Election Commission of India has announced the date of Karnataka MLC polls and it has issued election Code of Conduct across the state."
Karnataka State Cooperative federation Bengaluru planned to host Sahakari Saptaha in association with Dakshina Kannada district Central Cooperative Bank, Mangaluru and Udupi district Cooperative Union on November 15 this year at Smt Ammanni Ramanna memorial auditorium Udupi here, but it will be postponed to January 2022. The date will be announced soon.
"When the Election Code of Conduct is in force, none of elected representatives would be able to attend the programme. Sahakari Saptaha has been conducting since 67 years. We had meeting with Cooperative minister and concerned departments' official about the same. Unions have been doing preparation for the grand celebration. As the Electoral code of conduct is there in force tile December, we can not do any anything. We will start the preparation soon after the polls," said Dr Rajendra Kumar.
