Apex Court Reserves Order on Amar Singh, Jaya Prada Plea

New Delhi, Nov 10 (IANS) The Supreme Court Wednesday reserved its order on a petition of former Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh and actor Jaya Prada, and said that as unattached members of the house they were not covered under the 10th Schedule of the constitution that provides for disqualification of members if they defy the party whip.

The apex court bench headed by Justice Altamas Kabir indicated that the entire issue would be referred to a larger bench.

The bench will pronounce its order on Monday, when it would frame the issues that need to be addressed by a larger bench.

The court said this after Attorney General G. Vahanvati agreed with the court's suggestion that the matter needed to be heard by a larger bench.
