New Delhi, Nov 10 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party Wednesday said the prime minister's office (PMO) may also be involved in corruption surrounding the Commonwealth Games, Adarsh housing society scam and the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
Talking to reporters here, senior party leader Murli Manohar Joshi said certain information indicated that some officials from the PMO may also be involved in these corruption cases.
"There are information that some elements from the PMO may also be involved in these corruption cases," he said.
"No ministry should be spared from investigation. That's why a joint parliamentary committee is needed," he added.
Joshi said that the government agencies meant for probing such cases were being misused as political tools.
"Agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are being used as political tools. Now, the government is also using it (CBI) to malign the image of leaders from opposition parties," he said.
He said that the name of some Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders was mentioned in a charge sheet which the CBI released to the press, in an attempt to distort the image of those leaders.
"We are demanding a joint parliamentary committee so that we are assured that the inquiry is impartial," he said.
Joshi said that the party was forced to disrupt parliament proceedings as the ruling party did not allow a discussion on corruption.
"Whenever a discussion on corruption has been demanded, the ruling party either disrupts the house or raises some issue which distracts the attention from corruption," he said.
