Bengaluru, Nov 12: In a clarification on the controversy over the oath taking ceremony of newly elected Congress MLA from Sidgi, Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri has said the oath taking ceremony was fixed at 11 am in Vidhana Soudha on Thursday and second appointment fixing the time at 12 noon was not given.
The Speaker, through his secretariat, made it clear that BJP member Bhoosanur Ramesh Balappa from Hangal and Srinivas Mane had been asked to be present in the conference hall of the Vidhana Soudha on Thursday 15 minutes before the scheduled time of 11 am.
Though both the newly elected members had arrived at asked, Srinivas Mane before the commencement of the oath taking ceremony sought Speaker’s permission to go out for two minutes and went out. However, he did not turn even after 10 minutes and just Balappa was administered the oath and the function concluded with the singing of the national anthem.
But, the press statement, made it clear that no second appointment rescheduling the oath taking ceremony at 12 noon was given either by the Speaker or by his office and as such there was no question of waiting.
