Mangalore, Nov 11: The fourth Kerala State Kannada Sammelana will be held during third week of January at Kasargod. The Sammelana will include discussions on revival of Kannada culture in border areas, inter-State-level linguistic poets’ meet, exhibitions, release of souvenir, media conference, and interaction meet with the president of the convention among other activities.
The two-day sammelana is being organized under the aegis of the Karavali Samskritika Pratishtana and Kannada cultural department. Some dignitaries of Kerala-Karnataka state origin who have contributed in various fields will be felicitated on the inaugural and valedictory ceremony of the sammelana.
Twenty national awards during the sammelana will be conferred to 20 achievers of coastal districts. “Rashtrakavi Manjeshwar Govind Pai Award and “Dr Kayyara Kinhanna Rai Award” will also be conferred on the same occasion.
Kerala Kannada Sammelana is held once in two years. The first was held on March 23, 2003 at Manjeshwar (on the birthday of Rashtrakavi Manjeshwar Govind Pai), and was chaired by litterateur Kayyara Kinhanna Rai.
