Mangalore: Campaign to Save Youth from Mishap Kicks-off

Mangalore, Nov 11: MIFSE launched a campaign, Save Youth from Mishap’ at Sahodaya Hall, Balmatta here on Thursday November 11. The campaign will be on at various colleges for the next three months and students will be trained to avert any possible mishap.

Inaugurating the campaign, Prof T C Shivashankara Murthy, vice chancellor of Mangalore University said that this kind of unique campaign is useful as lot of youth succumb to death due to sheer negligence. He revealed that the number of vehicles has increased more than 5 times of what it was in 1990. He called upon the students to consider safety first.

In his presidential address, Dr A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, superintendent of police said that saving the youth from mishap is our responsibility. He also spoke about the success of launching police youth club in the city. He said that most of the untoward incidents in the city last year involved youth and hence it becomes our duty to stress more than ever before on safety rules. To an extent we succeeded too, he added. 

Chief guest at the programme, H S Varadarajan, chief fire officer called upon the youth to wipe out negligence in day-to -ay life as their life is precious to their parents and to the nation as well. He also said cautiousness and timely care among youth are always needed.

Vinod K J, managing direcotr and Ando Paul, Chairman among others were present.

T K Sadeesan, principal delivered the vote of thanks.
