Mumbai, Nov 15: The executive committee members of Chembur Karnataka Sangha for the period 2021-2024 were elected at school premises of the sangha, Chembur Fatla village on Sunday, November 14. The sangha has been in the service of education and social activities since the last six and a half decades.
Nine candidates had submitted nominations for six positions. Therefore, the elections were held for the winners.
Prabhaker R Bolar, Chandrakanth S Naik, Devadas K Shettigar, Arun Kumar Shetty, Sunder N Kotian and Sandesh D Madhur among the contestants belonged to one faction. Anil Kumar R Ameen and Premanath S Salian contested as opponents. Jernold J Xavier contested as an independent candidate. All the six candidates of the one faction were victorious. The remaining three candidates have lost the elections. “68 votes were invalid,” said chief election officer Jaya A Shetty.
Ramachandra Salian and Hemalatha S Shetty helped as assistant election officers. The results were announced in the evening and the winners were congratulated. President of the sangha, advocate H K Sudhakar Arate and other office bearers were present.
“The 66th annual general body meeting of the sangha will be held at the auditorium of the sangha, Chembur Fatla village on November 28 at 10 am,” said the honorary chief secretary Devadas K Shettigar.
