Mangaluru, Nov 15: Under the dynamic leadership of Fr Anil D'Mello, parish priest, liturgy seminar was organized in St Joseph the Worker Church, Neermarga on Sunday November 14.
To initiate this propitious occasion, the liturgy committee implored for the Blessings of God the Almighty through a prayer service which included the Scriptural passage and the short reflection followed by the traditional felicitous lamp lighting ceremony emblematizing the darkness of ignorance be swept away by the dawn of self-actualization.
Fr Anil D'Mello, parish priest, Fr Vijay Machado, director, DBCLC resource person, Ravi Saldanha and Prakash Pereira, vice president and secretary of parish pastoral council, Maurice Renjal, coordinator parish pastoral commissions, Sr Sujatha, coordinator - Commission for Liturgy were on the dais for the inauguration ceremony.
Fr Anil D'Mello in his presidential address articulated the ways in which liturgy is the centre of christian life. Anita Menezes verbalized sentiments of warm, sociable, affectionate welcome and then introduced Fr Vijay Machado, resource person to the audience.
Fr Vijay Machado clearly expounded the meaning of liturgy, Forms of liturgy in the Roman Catholic Church, guidelines for preparation and participation, liturgical seasons with the help of discussions, probing, power point presentation, and facts of life.
It was indeed an invigorating input session that quickened the minds, energised the body and awakened the soul. More than 100 parishioners were present for the seminar.
Lucy Pinto compered the programme and Sr Sujatha proposed the vote of thanks.
