Kasargod, Nov 12: A woman, who was crossing the railway tracks near Kotikulam railway station on Thursday November 11 along with her three children, was hit by a train. While a child died in the accident, its mother suffered serious injuries, after the Westcoast Express bound for Mangalore hit them. Other two children escaped miraculously. Reportedly, the woman wanted to go to Pallikere station to catch a train to visit a hospital in Mangalore.
Zubaida Farhana alias Farath (1), daughter of Abdul Rahman from Kotikulam Angakalari died in the accident, while her mother, Nazia, was admitted into a private hospital here with severe injuries. Nazia’s condition is stated to be critical. Her children, Sabith (8) and Shafiq (6) escaped unhurt in the accident. The child was declared brought dead on arrival at the hospital. Post mortem was conducted at the general hospital here.
