Dammam, Nov 13: ICC defeated the Amaco Jubail team by 34 runs to win the DCA Six-a-side knockout tournament, ‘Larren Trophy 2010’ at Rakah Grounds on Friday November 12. It was sponsored by Ivan Pinto and family.
ICC batted first and openers Khashif and Hafeez played manginiciatly scoring 20 runs in the first over and 35 in the second over. In just two overs ICC were 56 /0.
Hafeez smashed 4 consecutive sixes and kept moving the score board from the beginning. He made 27 in 7 balls before getting out. After the fall of Hafeez, good striker of the ball Khashif showed brilliant batting performance by hitting runs all over the grounds. Khashif made unbeaten 51. At the end ICC were able to reach a commendable total of 96 in allotted 5 overs.
In reply Amaco Opener Asif and Imran tried to score more runs from the first over. After the fall of all- rounder Imran's wicket, Asif and Nayaz played magnificently to reach the required target.
After Asif got out Amaco also lost the crucial wicket of Afwan. At this stage Amaco team found it very difficult to score runs against the fine bowling and fielding performance by ICC.
They were able to score 62 runs in allotted 5 overs. Nayaz was not out on 30. Thus ICC defeated Amaco by 34 runs.
Khashif of ICC team was declared Man of the Match and also Man of the tournament for his all-round performance throughout the tournament.
Nayaz of Amaco was named the Best batsman, Javed of ICC Best Bowler, Hafeez of ICC Best Wicket Keeper and Farman of ICC Best Outfielder.
Chief Guest and sponsor of the tournament Ivan pinto witnessed the finals and DCA president Ashok thanked the sponsors and all the teams’ members for making the tournament a grand success. In all 24 teams participated in the two-week matches.
DCA vice president Eithesham, Praveen, Gopal Shetty, Santhosh shetty of Masa, Raj Gopal and Vincent Saldana of Zamil among others were present to witness the finals.
It was announced that DCA 10 over knockout Cricket tournament ‘Wilson Memorial Trophy – 2010’ will start from November 26 in the same grounds, sponsored by VIincent and Family.
