Tumakuru, Nov 20: Former Karnataka chief minister, Jagadish Shettar, expressed the confidence that his party will be able to win 15 out of the 25 legislative council seats, election for which would be held shortly.
Addressing a press meet before attending the Swaraj convention in the city on Friday November 19, he said that over 45,000 gram panchayat members are supported by the BJP and the BJP, by winning highest number of seats, will secure a majority in the legislative council.
He said that the BJP has been creating record in winning seats right from the gram panchayat level to New Delhi. He also pointed out that the BJP has become the biggest political party in the world with highest Lok Sabha members and legislators, apart from 19 crore members. He said that the party has five BJP MLAs, MP, central minister etc. He noted that last time, even though the party had only one legislator, its candidate, Hulinakkar, had got 1,700 votes. He said the candidate would be announced within a day and that election preparations are in full swing.
