Kasargod , Nov 20: “LLB courses will be started at Manjeshwar campus of Kannur university. It will provide a fillip to higher education in Kasargod district,” said Kerala state chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He was speaking after inaugurating the eighth campus of Kannur University on Saturday, November 20.
“The admissions for the courses will be completed this year itself. Manjeshwar campus will be upgraded during the next five years as a diverse language and research centre. Kasargod, the land of seven languages and cultural diversity has people speaking Tulu, Kannada, Beary, Marathi, Konkani and Urdu languages. This is the land of poets Manjeshwar Govinda Pai, P Kunhiraman Nayar, Kuttamath, Kayyara Kinnanna Rai, Vidwan P Kelu Nayar and T Ubaid. Giving priority to higher education is inevitable here,” he said.
Opening of new medical college, conversion of 15 health centres as family health centres and upgrading of 244 schools as hi-tech has given new shape to the education sector in the district,” said the chief minister.
Minister of higher education R Bindu presided over the programme. MLA A K M Ashraf unveiled the rock slab. Kannur university vice chancellor Professor Gopinath Ravindran, deputy commissioner Bhandary Swagath, district legal service authority secretary M Suhaib and others were present as guests of honour.
