Lok Sabha Adjourned over Demand for JPC Probe


New Delhi, Nov 15 (IANS) Lok Sabha was adjourned for about an hour Monday after opposition members disrupted proceedings demanding a probe by a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) into alleged corruption in the allotment of 2G spectrum.

"We want a JPC," was the slogan that greeted Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar when she convened the house for question hour. After continuous slogan shouting followed by opposition members coming down to the well of the house, Meira Kumar adjourned the house till noon.

The government had hoped that the opposition would allow parliament to function after A. Raja resigned as telecom minister Sunday night. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is likely to give a statement on the subject in parliament at about 12 noon.
