Demand for JPC Probe Stalls Rajya Sabha

New Delhi, Nov 15 (IANS) The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 12 noon Monday as the opposition refused to let the house function over its demand for a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into alleged cases of corruption involving members of the ruling UPA.

The demand from the opposition echoed in the upper house, a day after communications and IT minister A. Raja resigned over allegations of his involvement in the 2G spectrum licensing scam.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies, the Left as well as the Samajwadi Party are demanding a probe into corruption in the Commonwealth Games, the Adarsh society scam in Mumbai and the 2G spectrum.

As opposition members created a din, Chairman Hamid Ansari adjourned the house till 12 noon.
