Government Seeks House Approval for Extra Spending


New Delhi, Nov 15 (IANS) The government Monday sought an approval from parliament for an additional expenditure of nearly Rs.45,000 crore during the current year.

The supplementary demands for grants for 2010-11 were presented in the Lok Sabha by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee amid noisy protests by opposition members, who were demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe into the 2G spectrum allocations.

The gross additional expenditure of Rs.44,945.52 crore included fertiliser subsidy of nearly Rs.5,000 crore.
