Kaup, Nov 24: A person who had been admitted into the district hospital at Udupi after attempting to kill himself on Friday by consuming poisonous substance failed to respond to treatment. He breathed his last on Tuesday November 23.
The victim, Uday (35) from Kalya village in Karkala taluk had tried to end his life after getting dismayed over frequent family quarrels. He was employed abroad in the past, and had returned to his hometown last year because of the coronavirus problem. He was currently staying in the parental home of his wife at Kaup. It is said that he had become heavily addicted to drinking.
There were cracks in his marital life and the wife and husband fought on trivial issues. It is said that his wife had filed a complaint against Uday in Kaup police station. Reportedly, she had also filed for divorce.
Overtaken by emotion relating to these issues, Uday is said to have consumed poison He had been provided treatment locally after finding that he had consumed poison at the Padubidri seashore. He was later admitted into the district hospital at Udupi, said the policemen of Padubidri station where a report has been registered.
