Udupi, Nov 24: "None of the students have clear knowledge about National Education Policy (NEP) and what is the importance of NEP, it is just promoting the commercializing education system," alleged state president of NSUI Kirthi Ganesh.
He was addressing at the press meet held at Udupi Press Club here on Wednesday, November 24. “We have asked the teachers and students about the policy. Ironically, no one had a proper answer. The government of India aims to make the education sector commercialized. What are they going to do with NEP? They lifted some regulations on universities, now they are working like agencies," Kirthi said. He alleged that they are going to market the education system. Hence, they started the 'Reject NEP' campaign in order to create awareness among the students.
He further said that, “They are not ready to discuss scholarships for the eligible. There is neither infrastructure for students nor regional transportation facilities mainly in rural areas. The government has withdrawn the farm laws. Likewise NEP, we will not allow to enforce them. Students will create the situation, when the government will take back its decision. BJP is using police department as its agency. The police will assault those who raise question against the government."
Rafhik, state general secretary of NSUI and in-chage of 'Reject NEP' campaign said, "NEP system will lead education system towards privatization. The policy was declared during Covid emergency and it was not discussed in the parliament. The Government of India is imposing three languages on students for unknown reasons. NEP may soil the future of students. Let them call for an open discussion to have public debate. NSUI will keep spreading awareness with the 'Reject NEP' campaign throughout the State .
