Mangaluru: Students should work towards bringing laurels to nation: Hajabba

Mangaluru, Nov 24: "Students along with acquiring knowledge, should work towards bringing laurels to the nation by becoming good officials," said Padma Shri awardee Harekala Hajabba.

He was speaking after handing over the 'MAAM' Inspire Award in a programme organised by the Media Alumni Association of Mangalagangothri (MAAM) here recently.

"The media has brought a common man of Harekala to limelight. In me obtaining a Padma Shri award, the media played an important role," he said.

During the occasion, he also thanked the members of the media.

Senior reporter of Hosadigatha daily, Guruvappa N T Balepuni said, "Simplicity, innocence and purity in the heart is the jewel of Hajabba. He gave importance to the school of Harekala more than his personal life. There are many people in the society who lead life like Harekala Hajabba. Such people should be brought to the limelight and supported.”

MAAM honorary president also spoke on the occasion.

Under Post Graduation level, Shriraksha Rao Punarooru of Alva’s College secured the first prize. In the degree level, Durga Prasanna of Alva's College and Prajna Odilnala of SDM College secured the second prize.

MAAM president Suresh Puduvettu presided over the event.

MAAM Inspire Award committee convener Sharath Hegde Kadthala delivered the key note address.

MAAM general secretary Suresh D Palli read the citation. Vice-president K S Venu Vinod thanked. Executive committee member Krishna Monah compered. Treasurer Krishna Kishore and Harish Motukana were present.
