Former Puducherry MLA dies of cardiac arrest while addressing lawyers


Puducherry, Nov 24 (IANS): Former legislator and practicing advocate at Puducherry bar, K. Parasuraman died due to a massive heart attack while he was addressing the newly-elected office-bearers of the Bar association on Wednesday. He was 71.

Parasuraman was a member of the Puducherry legislative assembly from 1991-1996 and was elected from Orleanpet constituency on an AIADMK ticket.

He was a practicing lawyer and was active at Puducherry Bar association activities and on Wednesday morning he was addressing the newly-elected office-bearers when he suddenly collapsed. He was immediately rushed to the Government dispensary at the premises of the Puducherry court and was referred to the General hospital.

He was rushed to the Government General hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Following his demise, the assumption of the new office bearers of the Puducherry Bar Association was postponed.

Puducherry Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy expressed his condolences over the passing away of K. Parasuraman.
