Udupi, Nov 25: A comprehensive hands on workshop on Forensic ballistics and Toxicology was organized by department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology and Centre for Clinical and Innovative Forensics, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, MAHE on November 16 and 17, 2021.
The workshop was inaugurated by Kumarachandra, IPS, additional superintendent of police, Udupi district. Dr Sharath Kumar Rao, dean, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, welcomed the gathering and Dr Vikram Palimar, professor and head, department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, gave an overview about the event. Dr Vinod C Nayak, professor, department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology and co-ordinator, Centre for Clinical and Innovative Forensics proposed the vote of thanks. The resource person for the workshop were Dr B C Ravindra and Dr V G Nayak, from FSL, Bengaluru.
Day 1 witnessed a seminar and crime scene investigation. On day 2, a hands on firing session was organized at District Firing Range at Karkala. Nearly 150 police officials of all cadres attended the workshop, along with the postgraduate students of department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal.
