Four school students drowned in Odisha, bodies recovered


Bhubaneswar, Nov 26 (IANS): Bodies of all four school students who drowned in the Mahanadi river in Odisha's Cuttack have been recovered, police said on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Chandan Behera, Ajinkya Bahalia, Subham Sethi, and Om Prakash Behera, all aged 13 to 14.

According to locals, the four went to the river on Thursday afternoon on two cycles. In the evening, people saw that the cycles lying abandoned on the river bank near Bhadimul ghat, and raised an alarm. A search operation was then launched to trace the boys, who were classmates.

While one body was recovered last evening, the bodies of three others were recovered on Friday by fire services personnel.

All the four belonged to Potapokhari in the Nayabazar area under Chauliaganj Police station of Cuttack city.
