Mangalore, Nov 18: At a press meet held here at Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee Office on Thursday November 18, M G Hegde, Congress spokesperson informed committe's decision to write to the chief secretary of state government seeking land details of Vidhana Sowdha, Vikasa Sowdha, M S Building, High Court and Kumara Kripa Guest House under the Right to Information Act.
As the allegations of multiple land scams against Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and other ministers in the BJP government are mounting, Hegde expressed his suspicion on whether BS Yeddyurappa has denotified the lands in and around of the total areas of Vidhana Sowdha, Vikasa Sowdha, M S Building, High Court and Kumara Kripa Guest House behind closed doors. CM did not dillydally to denotify any land acquired by the government under various pretexts for the benefit of his children and family members, he added.
Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board has acquired lands in various places of the state including Mangalore (near Bykampady, Angaragundi), Bangalore, Mysore and Shimoga for different reasons. But it is the right of the people of the state to know that how much land was acquired by KIADB in total. How much land has been denotified? And how much land is being used for the acquired purpose?” Mr Hegde said adding, “It is the responsibility of the government to answer all these questions”.
He also sought information about the 79 sites distributed by Mangalore Urban Development Authority in the recent past. “We would like to know who the beneficiaries of these lands were”, he said.
Coming down heavily on energy minister Shobha Karandlaje for her alleged involvement in newly revealed land scam, Hegde said Shubha says she depends only on her salary for her livelihood, But her brother Laxmana Gowda has vehicles and earth movers and her family posses Rs 70 lakh worth properties in and around Puttur and Sullia. Now she is covering up her unprecedented scam, he said.
Hegde also questioned the Hindu religious leaders, who had voiced their support to Chief Minister in the past, whether they have any answers to back him.
Former MLA Vijayakumar Shetty, secretary of DKDCC T K Sudhir and district president of Sevadal Ashraf among others were present.
