Udupi, Nov 30: Deputy commissioner (DC) Kurma Rao has directed officials to hold a special vaccination camp for labourers on Sundays from 7 am to 10 am as they are unable to come on other days due to their work.

He was speaking after visiting various vaccination centres in Udupi on November 30.

He visited high risk areas of Beedinagudde where migrant works reside and enquired if the people are vaccinated. The labourers there need to go to work early in the morning. The deputy commissioner directed officials to ensure that the labourers get both the vaccine shots with intervals in the Sunday camps.

The DC visited the vaccination camp at Sri Krishna math where about 25 to 30 beneficiaries had arrived for vaccinations. The DC saw that only one staff member was entering the computer data with difficulty and directed the health centre medical officer to send another staff member. The DC later spoke to the beneficiaries who had come for vaccination.

District Covid nodal officer Dr M G Rama, WHO vaccination in charge Dr Ashwin Kumar, Udaya Shetty and others were present.
