Bangalore, Nov 18: CM Yeddyurappa's trip to New Delhi to meet BJP high command has been cancelled, as BJP national president Nitin Gadkari will himself make a visit to the state soon.
The BJP high command had earlier summoned chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and BJP state president Eshwarappa to New Delhi, apparently to seek answers from the CM regarding the allegations of land scams by the opposition.
A high-profile meeting was held on Thursday November 18 evening at L K Advani's residence in New Delhi in the presence of party leaders Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu and others.
Reportedly, BJP national president Nitin Gadkari is going to question Yeddyurappa on the allegations levelled against him.
Yeddyurappa has come under attack from the state opposition parties that are seeking his ouster over alleged land scams, wherein he has been accused of alloting land to a firm, in which his two sons are partners.
Meanwhile, at a cabinet meeting, BJP decided to appoint a retired judge of the Supreme Court to conduct a probe into land deals in and around Bangalore over the last ten years. However, JDS spokesperson Y S V Datta flayed the decision stating that if the CM has legal documents pertaining to the land denotification, he should not be afraid to resign and face the allegations boldly.
It seems inevitable for the BJP to take serious action, especially in the light of actions taken against Kalmadi, A Raja and Ashok Chavan by the Congress when the trio came under charges of corruption in separate cases.
