Sharjah : Karnataka Sangha Celebrates Success of Mayura Cup

Sharjah, Nov 20: Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, celebrated the overwhelming success of Mayura Cup 2010 tournament at Fortune Hotel, Rigga Street, Dubai on 19th November, 2010 with luncheon party attended by Executive Committee Members, Patron, Media and Well Wishers.  It was a day for the members to celebrate the overall success of the tournament held recently and the record attendance of which came as a surprise but truly a binding spirit amongst Kannadigas in UAE in the recent years.

Uttam Menezes opened up the programme with light moments and thanked all those who have whole heartedly contributed to the success of the programme.  He then called upon Noel D Almeida, President of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah to share his feelings who then emotionally rendered his thoughts openly sharing his feelings and also thanked all his team mates and their families who supported him into the success of the programme.  He specially thanked the match referees who spent the whole day clearly judging the events with their experience into a smooth results.

















































Ganesh Rai, Ex-President of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, then came on to the dais and shared his feelings.  He mentioned the name of Umesh Nanthoor who is the sculpture of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah and who had then thought of forming a platform for those Kannadigas in Sharjah.  He said, today the dreams of the sculpture has come true and the Sangha has not only emerged as one of the biggest organization for Kannadigas in Sharjah but has proved to the world that they are a true democratic organization in UAE.  He added that the members of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah includes leaders of various other Karnataka associations in UAE thus making it strong and vibrant.  It is learnt that Karnataka Sangha Sharjah has its own bylaws and the Executive Committee have for all these years strictly following it with free and fair elections selecting their board members including the President each and every year without any pressure or dictatorship.  Ganesh Rai mentioned the names of all those who have contributed for the success of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah’s recent successful programmes including the President, Noel D’ Almeida.  He also thanked Daijiworld, Gulf Kannadiga, Sahil, Radio Spice and other medias for their role in showing to the world the great deeds of the Sangha.

Patron Mark Denis, shared some light moments and remembered the good old days of how Karnataka Sangha Sharjah came into formation and how successfully it continues with its 8th year of existence.  He also personally thanked each and every one who were behind the success of the programme including the sponsors.  He specially mentioned the name of B.G. Mohandas, ex-President of Karnataka Sangha Dubai and Chief Editor of Gulf Kannadiga.Com who was also present during the function for his role in the media.

On behalf of the Media Shodhan Prasad spoke and applauded the success of the programme which is a record by itself in the history of any Kannadiga Associations.  He also said that the Sangha should maintain this record and prove to be number one in UAE in the coming years.

Navin Sequeira was called upon and honoured with gift hamper for his contribution in digital display during the tournament held last week.

Needless to be mentioned the Executive Members of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah including Vice President Anand Bailoor, Satish Poojary, Yadav Kotian, Shashikant Kanangi, Raju Bhandary, Shahd Mohd, Vasanth Bekal, Jeevan Kuckian, Sugand Raj, Shantaran Achar, Vishwanath Shetty and other members are behind the team work towards success of the programme.

Followed was karaoke singing by various members during the course of lunch buffet which went on until it got concluded at around 4 PM.
