Udupi, Dec 4: “Prepare a fresh voter’s list free from confusion and mistakes during the period of its revision,” said deputy commissioner (DC) M Kurma Rao to the polling booth officials.
He was speaking after presiding over the training programme for booth officials in Kaup and Udupi at Rajatadri Atal Bihari auditorium on Saturday December 4.
“All the voters who have completed 18 years should be included in the voter’s list in the district. Names of those who have gone out from the district and have died should be deleted from the voter’s list. Visit the respective houses before deleting the names, investigate and make sure. There can be confusion and commotion on the dates of election if mistakes are found in the voter’s list. It obstructs transparent and just elections,” he said.
“The role of every voter is important in the election process. All the eligible voters should be included and all the ineligible voter’s names should be removed. Include all the boys and girls above 18 years of age and prepare a pure voter’s list,” he said.
“The health department in the district has used the voter’s list and identified the people above 18 years of age eligible for vaccination, those who have received first dose of vaccination, those who have received and not received second dose. All the BLOs should obtain details of vaccinations in their grams during inspection of voter’s lists. They should persuade people to obtain the vaccines without fail, achieve 100% vaccinations and make the district Covid free,” he said.
“The concerned revenue inspectors and BLOs should conduct joint inspections to ensure 100% vaccinations. The staff members who revise the voter’s list excellently will be congratulated on the day of elections,” he said.
Kundapur sub division officer Raju, Udupi tahsildar Pradeep Kurdekar, Kaup tahsildar Srinivas Murthy and district Covid vaccination officer Dr M G Rama were present.
