Canada: Mangalorean Dahlia Wins YouTube Music Video Contest

Canada, Nov 21: Dahlia, a 25-year-old Toronto-based singer of Mangalorean origin, who participated in the YouTube music video contest has become the coveted winner bagging a music video produced by TLA Productions.
Dahlia has now won concept development and treatment, one day of shooting in and around Toronto, Canada, availability of top notch director/cinematographer (Tom Antos), film crew, make-up artist, camera package, lighting package, studio space (if necessary) and editing for her music video. It may be recalled that the young talent had been featured in Daijiworld on November 11.
Late Freddy Barboza, famous Mangalorean actor, composer and lyricist in Konkani tiatr is her maternal grandfather. She is the daughter of Edna Fernandes, known for gourmet pickle business named "Edna's Pickles" in Toronto. Following the Daijiworld article, Dahlia received a lot of support through votes, which played a crucial part in her memorable win. Her family has thanked the Daijiworld and its readers for the enormous patronage.
However, it is a pleasant surprise that an international achiever in the field of music now, and inclined towards it since young, had accidentally found out that she could compose a song when she was 20 years old. She has the honour of singing the National Anthem for UN dignitaries for International Peace Day at City Hall and a ranking into Mississauga's Top 25 Future Stars.
Dahlia is currently being trained by talented vocal teacher, Shannon Gunn, who inspires her to grow and develop technically as well as artistically. She is also working on her new CD, samples of which are available on her website, www.dahliafernandes.com.
