Bangalore, Nov 21: It was a memorable evening for the alumni of St Agnes and St Aloysius Colleges as they converged at Raintree, Catholic Club here recently for a gala get-together.
The event, aptly called 'Agnesian Nite 2010' was organised by the ex-Agnesian association committee. Nearly 275 alumni of both colleges attended the reunion.
'The Astras' musical band had everyone on the dance floor grooving to the beats of the famous hits by the D'Souza family. Both the young and the old sportively participated in the games and even won some fancy prizes.
Speaking on the occasion, president of the association Hilma Roach revealed plans to set up a joint association in Bangalore headed by a joint committee comprising 12 members (six Agnesians and six Aloysians). The posts of president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer would get equal representation, she added.
The committee would have a term of two years and among other activities would organise two main events each year - a family outing for members, spouses and children, and a gala social get-together. Both these events will aim at not only connecting socially, but also promoting professional and business interests, she said.
The association also proposes to extend monetary assistance to the less fortunate students of the two institutions by way of scholarships and prizes. An annual contribution would be made in this regard to St Agnes and St Aloysius colleges. The association also plans to set up a think tank of well-placed professionals to guide and help financially weak students in seeking better job opportunities in Bangalore, Hilma informed.
