Mangalore: A J Hospital Successfully Conducts Rare Congenital Aneurysm Surgery

Mangalore, Nov 22: An 8 year old girl Lavita from Renjala, Karkala suffering from congenital aneurysm of the left atrial appendage was successfully operated at the A J Hospital and Research Centre here in the city. Rarest of condition of its kind with only 30 documented cases worldwide, only two reported cases were of the age of 8 years.








Lavita was presented with history of breathlessness and weakness on minimal exertion for the last six months and precardial bulge since one year and on investigation found to have congenital aneurysm, a very rare condition wherein part of left atrium, one of chambers of heart, gets thinned out and dilated (aneurysm). If left untreated, the condition leads to life threatening complications.

The team of doctors headed by Dr Jayashankar Marla, chief cardiothoracic surgeon, included Dr Gururaj Thantri, chief cardiac
anaesthesiologist and Dr Naganand, cardiac anaesthesiologist, Jagadish, Anil, Pavan and nursing staff.

Patient is completely devoid of symptoms after surgery and healthy. She has been discharged.A J Hospital & Research Centre, a major referral centre for Mangalore and surrounding regions has performed complex cardiac procedures and
surgeries with excellent results.

    Rich or poor medical ethics should be respected.
    Was Lavita had been a rich man's daughter, such photos would not have been published openly. Even in Western or European countries a animal's operation photos are are much valued to be published. A.J. Hospital you must learn medical good behaviour and remove them immediate effect as a honour to yourself and poor people..

    God Bless Lavita.. you are a brave girl. Congratulations to the Cardiac team, you have done marvelous job.

    I personally feel its not good to publish the photographs of the child during the live operation process. I have gone through the same stage with my son's heart surgery.
