Mangalore: Student Drowns at Tannirbavi

Mangalore, Nov 23: A student named Robin Benny (19), a native of Kaloor in Ernakulam distict in Kerala, drowned at the beach in Tannirbavi here on Sunday November 21 evening. He had gone missing on Sunday evening, and his body was recovered from the same spot on Monday November 22 afternoon.

Benny, a first year student of the five-year LLB course in SDM Law College here, used to live in a hostel room. 14 students had arrived at Tannirbavi beach together on Sunday afternoon. After having fun at the beach, they were taking bath in the sea, when two students, Arjun and Benny, started drowning. The other students, who tried their best to save the two, succeeded in rescuing Arjun. After their efforts to locate Benny failed, the students had registered a missing complaint with Panambur police late night on Sunday. The parents of the boy came from Kerala on Monday, and made arrangements to take the mortal remains to their native place.

Arjun, also from Kerala, is recovering in a private hospital here. SDM Law College declared holiday was on Monday as a mark of respect for the departed student.
