Udupi: Excise Raid – Liquor from Goa Confiscated from Railway Passenger

Mangalore, Nov 23: In an operation conducted at the local railway station on Monday November 22, the policemen of excise enforcement and lottery prohibition cell recovered liquor made in Goa, which was being illegally transported through train.

During the raid, the policemen found that a person named Dayanand from Trissur from Kerala had in his possession, 1,400 plastic sachets of 90 ml each containing Honeguide brand brandy. Dayanand was waiting for a train there. The value of the liquor so confiscated has been put at Rs 35,000.

On producing the accused in a local court, he was remanded to judicial custody. Deputy superintendent of police, Vishwanath, had guided the operation in which, inspector, C E Timmaiah and other personnel took part.
