PM not Obliged to Sanction Raja Prosecution: Vahanvati to Court


New Delhi, Nov 23 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was not obliged under the law to grant sanction to launch prosecution proceedings against then telecom minister A. Raja in the 2G spectrum scam, Attorney General G. Vahanvati told the Supreme Court Tuesday.

Vahanvati, appearing in the case for the first time, conveyed this to the apex court bench of Justice G.S. Singhvi and Justice A.K. Ganguly, which was hearing a complaint by Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy.
