Udupi: Tapmi Celebrates the Home Coming of Alumni

Udupi, Nov 25: T A Pai Management Institute (Tapmi), one of the leading B-schools in India held its exclusive alumni meet in the campus. More than 100 alumni of its 24 batches since 1984 working in different parts of the country enthusiastically participated in the event.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Saji Gopinath, director Tapmi explained how alumni could contribute to the strength of an educational institute. He said “The alumni meet is a place where you speak out your soul. Alumni are the most important and major stake holders of any educational institute. Tapmi is diversifying and rediscovering itself. In this process it is very important for the alumni of Tapmi to be on its advisory board. This is a call to the alumni to share the core value system of Tapmi.”

Sudarshan V Maddi, executive director, GM infra Ventures, Hyderabad and an alumnus of Tapmi said “Tapmi is amongst the first educational institute to run on a pure merit system. Discipline at Tapmi is how salt is to cooking. Discipline is the essence of any good B-school.”

Dr Simon George, dean academics, TAPMI said “Alumni are the ambassadors of Tapmi to the outside world.”

Home Coming is an annual flagship event of the Alumni Affairs Committee of Tapmi where the alumni of Tapmi are welcomed back to their almamater. It gives an opportunity to reminiscence the two years that they spent in the institute. The alumni meet was a nostalgic moment where the old students shared their experiences. The meet provided a platform for the current students to gain industry knowledge from their seniors. The five batches from ’89 to ’93 were felicitated on the occasion.

“I cannot imagine life without Tapmi. Tapmi has made a difference to me. It may be for the good or the bad but it definitely is not the same “said Prof Gururaj Kidiyoor, an alumnus and now teaching marketing and PGP chairperson at Tapmi.
