Udupi: Paryaya Preparation Unfolds - Sodhe Seer Vishwavallabateertha Performs Bale Muhurat

Udupi, Nov 25: The motion was set for the first ascension of Paryaya Peeta at Sodhe Mutt here on Thursday November 25.
Swami Vadiraja had introduced various muhurats for the Paryaya of Ashta Mutt five hundred years ago. Among them, the planting of plantain sapling was the first stage of muhurat. It’s also a preparation for the two-year term of Paryaya. The planting pf shoots of sugarcane and Tulsi plants in the vacant plots of Sodhe Mutt is called as Bale Muhurat, as its symbolic to necessitating supplying groceries for preparing the free-food to the devotees and to provide material for Lord Krishna’s puja. Swami Vishwavallabateerta of Sodhe mutt, the youngest among all swamijis of Ashta Mutts planted the plantain-tree, for his first Paryaya.
The plantain-tees, Tulsi plants and sugarcane shoots including flags and titles were mounted on Subhadre, the temple elephant passing through Ratha Beedi (Car Street), by temple priests offering puja to deities - Chandreshwara, Ananteshwara, Krishna Mukhyaprana and later planted them at the vacant plot of Sodhe mutt, here.
Swami Vishwavallabateerta offered motion for various religious rituals through muhurat, amid the chanting of mantras by the temple priests and Laxmi Shobhane by women. Tulabara of Swami Vishwavallabateerta including the idol of deity with the many kilograms of coins donated by an unspecified devotee was held on the occasion. Swami Vishwavallabateerta distributed 'mantrakshate' to the devotees and sought the assistance of all for the forthcoming Paryaya that follows with Bale muhurat.
The scholars Haridas Upadhyaya, Sagri Gopalakrishna Samaga, Sodhe mutt diwan Srinivas Tantri, Bannanje Gopalakrishna Upadhyaya, Hospet Rajeshwar Singh, Kannada Sahitya Parishad former state president Harikrishna Punaroor, Kadiyali Anantaram Upadhyaya, Mangalore Raghunath Shet, Ramesh Rao, Bharati Chandrashekar, Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Parishad president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, U K Raghavendra Rao, Ramesh Rao Beedu, Ratna Kumar, Tallur Shivaram Shetty, Shambu Shetty, Dr Ashok Kumar Bangalore, Tumkur Ramesh Achar, Koni Vasudev Shet, entrepreneur Ranjan Kalkura and Sudhakar Pejavar were present on the occasion.
Bale muhurat was held under the leadership of Vedamurti Herga Vedavyasa Rao. It was attended by hundreds of devotees.
