Amarinder announces party's alliance with BJP

Chandigarh, Dec 17 (IANS): Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) chief Amarinder Singh on Friday announced his party's alliance with the BJP for the 2022 Assembly polls in Punjab.

"Met union minister & @BJP4India incharge for Punjab, Shri @gssjodhpur in New Delhi today to chalk out future course of action ahead of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections. We have formally announced a seat adjustment with the BJP for the 2022 Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections," the former Congress leader two-time Chief Minister said in a tweet, after meeting Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who is also the state BJP incharge.

Before the end of the farmers' protests on the borders of the national capital against three agricultural laws, Amarinder Singh had said any seat arrangement he made with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would be subject to a resolution of the farmers' issues in their interest.

On November 2, Amarinder Singh had resigned from the Congress and sent a seven-page letter to interim party President Sonia Gandhi.

He had quit as the Chief Minister in September after a power tussle with state Congress chief Navjot Sidhu.

Arminder has dug his own grave. Before joing BJP, he should have thought of the reparations. Now he is gone for ever.

Captain Amrinder Singh just did a political blunder by announcing his alliance with BJP for Punjab elections. BJP is very unpopular in Punjab, thus advantage AAP and Congress. I hope Aam Aadmi Party wins Punjab this time around as it would give them a better launching platform in other states as well. Moreover, it would be interesting to see how AAP works in Punjab, a state. What do you say ? Who should win ?

Last nail on Amarider’s coffin for allying with anti Sikh BJP. Sikhs never voted against congress even after assassination of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh guards and the violance followed against them.

Old is gold especially people like captain. Look at how bjp is still making yedi a active part in the party. Just because your old doesn't mean congress should have thrown him like that. Even Sonia Gandhi is old but she didn't experience anything like this wonder why?

This is a trouble the INC called on themselves. They choose that laughing stock who only knows to laugh with Kapil over a army veteran. A man who committed most of his life for the development of INC

It was known even when Capt Singh was CM as he was going soft with Sanghis. But it was Capt that Punjab voted for not his party. At the end its bad news for Bhaima Congress.
