Mangalore, Nov 27: Lure of quick bucks often makes a person take into illegal activities and the best resort is often conning people, who become easy prey to such tricks.
In one such incident, it is alleged that Rashid Bolar posing as an agent of weekend holiday cruise to Lakshadweep has duped people by charging Rs 7,500 instead of actual package of Rs 5,130 and is now found to be an unauthorized agent. The alleged fraud came to light when a complaint in this regard was lodged by a duped family at the Pandeshwar police station. Following the complaint police have taken Rashid into custody and investigations are on, said Modern Transport Services proprietor P Asif Azad, who clarified that he is the only authorized agent to book for the tour package.
About the Duping Game and of It Coming to Light
The actual tour package is Rs 5,130 per individual where as Rashid collected Rs 7,500 promising them of the same package. A family comprising five persons from Harihara among others have been deceived by Rashid. He collected Rs 7,500 from them and when they reached the port to board the vessel, they realized that their tickets had not been booked by him. When contacted his phone was switched off, informed Asif Azad explaining about the incident.
The other people allegedly duped by Rashid are Srinivas Moorthy, Ajanth, Nagraj, and Sridhar among others. For the time being all the passengers deceived by him have been put up at a private hotel in the city.
