Kundapur, Dec 20: Dr Gerald Pinto, retired principal of Milagres College said that bringing smiles on the faces of elderly people by celebrating Christmas with them is the real essence of Christmas.
Dr Pinto spoke after participating in the Christmas celebration that was held at Nithya Sahaya Matha home for elderly at Sastan organised jointly by Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh and Sastan units on December 18.
Dr Pinto said, “The real theme of Christmas, which is celebrated all over the world, lies in the message of peace, love and compassion. Let this peace, love and compassion make every day of our life as a feast of Christmas. Let the message of Lord Jesus Christ live in the crib of our mind.”
The inmates of the old age home were distributed with Kuswar (savouries specially made for Christmas). Choir group members of Sastan unit sung Christmas Carols.
The programme was presided over by Mary D’Souza, president of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh.
Sister Blandina of Nithya Sahaya Matha old age home, Sister Goretti, chief of local Jesus Mary Convent, Gregory P K D’Souza, chief secretary of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, Cynthis D’Souza, president of Sastan unit, Janet Banz, secretary, L Roy Kiran Crasta, Valerian Fernandes, Santhosh Cornelio, office bearers of central committee and others were present.
