Kundapur, Dec 20: Scooter rider and pillion, who were not wearing helmets and also riding on the wrong side of the road, hit a girl student in a bid to avoid the traffic interceptor vehicle.
This incident has gone viral on social media. The incident took place near the new bus stand at around 1.15 pm on December 18. The traffic interceptor police tried to stop the rider and pillion of a scooter that was driving on the wrong side on a one way road without wearing a helmet. However, the scooter rider, instead of stopping, increased the speed and hit a girl student and escaped from the spot.
The girl student who was hit got disoriented by the sudden collision, fell on the road and escaped with minor injuries. Public is expressing rage that young two wheeler riders are violating traffic rules in spite of strict vigilance by the traffic police.
The police have collected the CCTV footage from all the cameras on the route through which the scooter rider escaped and are on the hunt for them.
