Narrow escape for passengers of Vikramshila express

Patna, Dec 22 (IANS): Passengers of New Delhi-Bhagalpur Vikramshila express had a narrow escape after it crashed with an SUV in Bihar on Wednesday morning.

The incident took place at Keul-Bhagalpur rail section at Daitabandh halt.

According to a railway official, the local residents have illegally constructed a railway crossing at Daitabandh halt for vehicles. While crossing, a Bolero got stuck on the tracks and despite efforts it could not be removed.

"The Bolero driver did not inform about it to officials of nearest railway station. Due to low visibility, the drivers of the train did not see the stuck vehicle leading to the crash," he said.

Fortunately, the train did not derail after the accident and managed the cross it safely.

Following the accident, Jamalpur GRP started the investigation to identify Bolero owner and driver.
