Jubail, Nov 30: Expertise Industrial Services Cricketers-Jubail won the ‘Karnire Friends Cup-2010’ after trouncing Bluestar-Dammam by 10 runs in the floodlit MRI ball knock-out cricket tournament organized by Karnire Relief Organization (KRO).
The cricket playoffs were held recently at Dywidag cricket ground in Jubail, the industrial city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Fares Al-Shammary, vice-president, Expertise Industrial Services, Jubail, inaugurated the tournament by batting on the pitch. Haji K S Sayeed, president of Mohiyuddin Jumma Masjid Karnire, was present at the inaugural ceremony.
The eight best cricket teams-Expertise, Real Tech, Coastal Digest, Bluestar, Bluelines, Kaup Friends, Al-Falah Sports, and NGC Jubail, from Dammam and Jubail took part in the colorful playoffs. The first semi-final was played between Expertise Industrial Services-Jubail and Bluelines-Jubail. The second semi-final was played between Coastal Digest (Amaco) and Bluestar-Dammam. The final match was played between Expertise Industrial Services-Jubail and Bluestar-Dammam.
Expertise scored 73 runs in the allotted 10 overs and Bluestar was unable to chase the target set by Expertise and had to be satisfied with 63 runs for the loss of seven wickets. ‘Man of the Match’ and ‘Man of the Series’ were awarded to Shoaib and Zubair from Expertise Cricketers, respectively.
The prize presentation ceremony will be conducted in the family get-together ‘Pirsappad-2010’ to be held on December 16 at Hadeed Beach Camp in Jubail.
Mohammed Ashpak Karnire, president, Karnire Relief Organization (KRO), Abdul Rahiman Karnire, secretary of KRO, and others were present on the occasion.
Karnire Relief Organization (KRO) is a non-profit, voluntary association, which has been newly formed in Jubail and consists of people from Karnire village and in Mangalore taluk. The association is aimed at socio-community services in general and providing financial support to the underprivileged families in and around Karnire area in particular. The association has been paying Rs 25,000 every month to 25 poor families of Karnire and providing financial assistance for medical, educational, housing, and other constructive services, which the needy people in the region benefit from.
