Belagavi, Dec 24: Congress MLA C M Ibrahim, said that he had predicted that Basavaraj Bommai will lose his position as the chief minister (CM) of the state in January 2022. He recalled that he had predicted that the then chief minister B S Yediyurappa, would be replaced in December and his prediction was proved right. He insisted that his prediction about Bommai will also prove to be right.
Speaking at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha here on Thursday December 23, he stated that a few names of people who might become the next CM of Karnataka are already making the rounds. "Bommai developed problems in his legs after becoming the CM and now he is limping. "I can say for sure that after the religious conversion and Love Jihad bills are passed, he will be sent home. He can earn a place in the minds of the people if he follows the Basava principles rather than obeying the diktats coming from 'Keshava Kripa', he commented.
In the meantime, BJP veteran leader and MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, who also had expected that the CM might be replaced, said that the issue of changing the chief minister is not currently under consideration.
Former chief minister Jagadish Shettar, speaking to the media at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, insisted that the seat of the chief minister is not vacant for the present. He said that there is no need to assign any special significance to his meeting Yediyurappa and that he keeps meeting everyone including Congress leaders now and then.
