New Delhi, Dec 1 (IANS) Activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) youth wing vowed to continue their protest against Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday, a day after they tried to attack the separatist Kashmiri leader in the capital.
"We will continue to hold demonstrations against him whenever and wherever he goes. Our members in all the states are very active and will agitate against such anti-national people who disrespects the country," said Anuj Sharma, an activist of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).
Around 150 activists of the BJYM had Tuesday assembled outside the Foreign Correspondent's Club, where the Hurriyat conference leader was to attend a seminar. Shouting slogans against the Mirwaiz, they hurled eggs, water bottles and stones at his car, damaging its windscreen.
"As he (Farooq) came out, we again hurled eggs at him but missed. The protestors spat on his posters and burned them as he sped away in his car," said Sharma.
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Delhi Police personnel escorted the Mirwaiz to the venue of the seminar.
Around 70 to 75 protestors were arrested by police but later released around 8 p.m.
