Udupi: Eid al-Adha Celebrated at Hoode

Udupi, Dec 1: “Eid al-Adha, the festival of sacrifice" is an important day celebrated by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son Ishmael (Isma'il) as an act of obedience to Allah, the thoughtful message was conveyed by Jb Ishaaq Puttur.

He was speaking at the Eid al-Adha held at Adarsh Islamic Centre, Hoode here, recently. Though the Prophet Abraham didn’t have child until his oldage, on his sincere duas in having a noble child, soon the prayer was accepted and the noblest son was born called Ishmael  The child was brought up with the best of Islamic training that developed his overall personality. As the command of Allah that was communicated in dreams in sacrificing Ishmael, his father Prophet Abraham never turned back, equally his son Ishmael was ready to submit himself to the commands of Allah, he said.

Ishaaq said, "Allah being pleased with the noble intension and sincerity of Prophet Abraham and Ishmael , commanded that this day should be celebrated by the believers to remember the Great Sacrifice of both the Prophets. Hence cattle (goat, sheep, camel etc) are sacrificed on this day. This day falls in the month of Dul Hajj. The meat is divided into three parts, one portion for the  family, another third is given to relatives, friends and neighbours; and the other third is given to the poor and needy, he added.

It's during this time the annual pilgrimage Hajj is observed in Mecca, Saudi Arabia which is one of the essential pillar of Islam. Rejuvenation of Iman happens after the Hajj, hence muslim becomes more Noble and sincere to convey the message of Islam to mankind. This inculcate the everlasting humane qualities that builds up the society free from all flaws, finally making men to recognise the true creator.

The programme started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Br Adil Hoode. Inaugural words and the vote of thanks was delivered Br Hussain Kodibengre.
